Beadle, Donald E.
Donald E. Beadle, 88, of Marion, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010, at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Iowa City. Services: 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 15, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. The family will greet friends from noon to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Nelavene R. Beadle; and his sons, David A. Beadle of Cedar Rapids and Barry E. Beadle of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Kenneth and Harold Beadle.
Donald was born March 16, 1921, the son of Charles and Grace (LeGuire) Beadle, in Marion, Iowa. He graduated from Marion High School in 1939. He graduated with a four-year degree from Coe College and then received his master's degree in accounting from the University of Iowa, where he was also a member of the University of Iowa Marching Band. Donald married Nelavene Reimer on July 3, 1947, at the Little Brown Church. He worked as an accountant for 29 years at Collins Radio. Donald was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. He loved music, the Chicago Cubs, and the Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball teams.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Donald's memory.
