Bayard Bosserman, age 103, died Monday, July 22 at Oaknoll Retirement Residence in Iowa City.
Services will be held at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service on Friday, July 26, 2024, with visitation beginning at 12 noon and a brief service at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to the Bosserman family, to be forwarded to The Bosserman Family Scholarship Fund at The Ohio State University. Bayard Elmo Bosserman was born August 9, 1920, in Jenera, OH, the son of John and Edith (Irwin) Bosserman. After graduation from high school, he attended The Ohio State University, graduating in 1942. He was an officer in the U.S. Navy, eventually achieving the rank of Lt. Commander. Bayard married Mildred Rogers in 1949, and resided in many places before settling in Iowa City in 1959. It was in Iowa City that Bayard and Mildred raised their 5 children.
Bayard’s survivors are sons, Bayard II of California, David and his wife Julie of Arizona, Tom of California, Tim of Iowa, daughter Ann and her husband Peter Collette of Iowa, and grandson Alex Bosserman of California.
Bayard was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Trella Niswander and his daughters-in-law, Angela Bosserman, Sherry Bosserman and Rouhieh Bosserman.
