Baxter, Christine M.
Christine M. Baxter, 46, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, April 30, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Services: 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 5, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Del Bear. Family will greet friends following the services.
Survivors include her husband, Chuck A. Baxter; two sons, Chuck R. and Daniel J. Baxter at home; her father, Lt. Col. Robert D. Allen (USAF Retired) of Ames; two sisters, Karen Kerper and Marce Allen, both of Ames; a brother, Steven (Lisa) Allen of Boston, Mass.; and her nephews, nieces and great-nieces.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Sheryl; and brother-in-law, Mark Kerper.
Christine was born Jan. 26, 1965, the daughter of Robert and Sheryl (Conner) Allen, at Ellsworth Air Force Base, S.D. A 1983 Ames High School graduate, she attended college at Iowa and Iowa State and worked in Ames at the Pizza Pit. Christine also went to Travel Agent School and worked as a travel agent for Sail Aweigh Travel in Ames. On Nov. 24, 1990, she was united in marriage to Chuck A. Baxter at First United Methodist Church in Ames.
In 1996, they moved to Cedar Rapids, where Christine was a travel agent, graduated from Kirkwood Community College, and worked as a Pharmacy Tech at Target. In recent years, she was a health secretary and later an administrative assistant for the Cedar Rapids School District.
Christine loved and cherished her time with her children and enjoyed attending their sports activities with Chuck.
Memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association in memory of Christine.
