Baumgartner, Arlene

Arlene Baumgartner, 84, of Waterloo, formerly a longtime resident of Cedar Rapids, died at Rosewood Estate of Friendship Village in Waterloo on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012.

She was born May 11, 1928, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Charles Ernest and Bertha Marie Odlund Coleman. Arlene married Elwyn LuRay Baumgartner on Oct. 26, 1946, in Cedar Rapids. He died Feb. 28, 1992. She graduated from Wilson High School in Cedar Rapids. Arlene worked as a seamstress for Stegman Draperies for many years until her retirement.

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Cedar Rapids and the Sharon United Methodist Church.

Arlene is survived by her son, Gary “Bum” (Donna) Baumgartner of Waterloo; grandson, Scott (Lindsey) Baumgartner of Davenport; grandson, Todd (Luce Ostlund) Baumgartner of Waterloo; three great-grandchildren, Shannon, Alliauna and Kaiya; sister, Alice (Buddy) Stegman of Cedar Rapids; sister, Doris (Dave) Leonard of Cedar Rapids; sister, Nancy (Cecil) Ellison of Solon; and brother, Bobby (Jan) Coleman of Cedar Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Larry; brothers, Harold and Roy Coleman; and sisters, Adria McCormick and Helen McGowan.

Services: 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Locke Funeral Home, Waterloo. Burial: 2:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, at Locke Funeral Home, (319) 233-6137.
