Bauer, Carla (Primmer)
Carla (Primmer) Bauer, 64, of Vinton, died Saturday, June 11, 2011, at Virginia Gay Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212 East Sixth St.) in Vinton, with Pastor Dorthy Banzhaf of Kent Union Chapel officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
Carla was born Nov. 20, 1946, in Vinton, the daughter of Carl and Betty (Butler) Primmer. On Sept. 6, 1963, she was united in marriage to Bruce Bauer at Evangelical United Brethren Church in Vinton. Carla attended Washington High School in Vinton and later received her diploma through Kirkwood Community College. She worked as a teacher's associate at East Elementary School in Vinton for 26 years. She enjoyed camping, walking, family events and golf cart rides. She especially enjoyed spending time at Holiday Lake and loved watching classic movies.
Carla is survived by her husband, Bruce; her children and grandchildren, Brett (Danelle) Bauer and their son, Jack, Betty Jo (Bryan) Fancher and their children, Zachary and Ansley, Beth (Jim) Mayhew and their sons, Cory and Nicolas; her siblings, Trudy Evans, Pam Schminke, Richard Primmer and Doris Trefz; her aunts, Nelda Eckhart and Pat Cantonwine; and her uncle, Glen Primmer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Betty Primmer; and her grandparents, Glen and Mabel Primmer.
