Virginia Mae “Ginny” Baty
Horseshoe Bend, Ark.
Virginia Mae “Ginny” Baty, 87, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.
Virginia was born July 5, 1924, to Michael and Celestine Kurt in Cascade, Iowa. She married Wayne Baty in 1953 and the couple was blessed with six children, which they raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Ginny was a member of St. Mary of the Mount Catholic Church in Horseshoe Bend, Ark.
Ginny is survived by her children, Kurt (Michelle Doty) Baty, Cheryl (Dean) Kolar, Mark (Jill) Baty, Susan Baty, Pam (James) Benge and Gail (Chip) Boucher; grandchildren, Brian (Pamela) Kolar, Kristin (Moji Ghoraishi) Kolar, Stuart Kolar, Daniel Kolar, Nicole (Rob) Starkey, Jenica Baty, Zachary Benge, Carly Boucher, Thomas Boucher and Hayley Boucher; sisters, Mary Ione Theisen, Mary Lou (Ralph) Kloser and Phyllis Carroll; sister-in-law, Evelyn Lacock; and her brother-in-law, Ron Baty.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Baty; a sister; two brothers; and her parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3663 66th St., Urbandale. The family will greet friends one hour before the service at the church.
