Baty, Rose A.
Rose A. Baty, 90, of Anamosa, departed this worldly life on Saturday, May 5, 2012, at the Anamosa Care Center following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Father Wayne Droessler will officiate at the services. Friends may call from 4 until 7 p.m. Tuesday at Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa, where a parish vigil service will be held at 7 p.m.
Surviving are her husband, Carl; two children, Jessica Siebels, Newark, Ill., and John Baty and his wife, Jane, of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Peter and Val Siebels, Laura and Matt Mestan, Stephanie and Delford Doherty; great-grandsons, Benjaman and Nathan Mestan; three stepchildren, Juanitae Kelley, Wanda Ward and Jack Baty; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
Rose Angelina Sacco was born Feb. 14, 1922, in Boston, Mass., the daughter of John and Angelina (Mannatta) Sacco. Rose attended the Randolph, Mass., area schools. During World War II she operated a metal seaming machine making Jerrycans. She was later employed at the Bunny Bear Co.
Rose married Carl Baty on April 13, 1947, in Everett, Mass. Carl was in the United States Navy and the couple was stationed in Charleston, S.C., Great Lakes, Ill., New York and Norfolk, Va. Following Carl's retirement from the Navy the couple moved in 1969 to Anamosa, where he was employed at the Anamosa State Penitentiary.
Rose had been active in the Navy Wives clubs and was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church since 1969.
