Batey, Charles L.
Charles L. Batey, of Cedar Rapids, died at the Rehabilitation Center of Des Moines on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009. A visitation will be Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include his daughters, Vanessa (John) May of Des Moines and Christine (Greg) Moser of Center Point; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Charles was born Aug. 5, 1932, in Dubuque, to Leo and Geneva Batey. He was married to Betty Fugate. She died in 1996. He worked in the bakery department at Hy-Vee. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean conflict and a member of the VFW.
