Bateman, Michael T.

Michael T. Bateman, 37, of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday Aug. 8, 2012. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 4-7 p.m. on Friday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Survivors include his daughter, Riley Bateman of Cedar Rapids; his parents, Linda S. Vitek of Marion and John Michael Bateman of Cedar Rapids; his sisters, Becky Bateman and significant other, Victor Rocha of Cedar Rapids and Emily Bateman of Cedar Rapids; his brothers, Bobby Bateman and Joe (Tanya) Vitek both of Cedar Rapids; his grandmothers, Helen Bateman of Cresco, and Edith Seitz of Elkader; his significant friend, Collette Barnes of Cedar Rapids; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Walter Bateman and Lawrence Lerch and Gary Vitek.

Michael was born Oct. 29, 1974, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of John and Linda Lerch Bateman. Michael was a union carpenter working many construction sites around the Cedar Rapids area. He loved playing softball, golf and was an avid devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. His greatest time spent was enjoying his daughter, Riley.
