Bateman, John Truett
John Truett Bateman, 52, of Cedar Rapids, died at home Monday, April 25, 2011. Services: 1 p.m. Friday at Grace Community Church, North Liberty. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home and after noon Friday at the church. Arrangements are with Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include wife, Marla of North Liberty; children, Chelsea (Cory) Leonard, Jay Bateman and Sean Bateman, all of North Liberty; parents, Edward and Jackie Bateman of North Liberty; siblings, Grace (Larry) Rodgers of Urbana, Jim (Nancy) Bateman of Jackson, Miss., and Clay Morris (Yvonne) Bateman of Seattle, Wash.; a grandchild, Taven; five sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.
John was born March 27, 1959, in Dallas, Texas, to Edward and Jacquelyn Bateman. He married Marla Menge in Robins on Aug. 29, 1981. He was employed with Paetec of Cedar Rapids. He enjoyed sitting around campfires with family and friends and sitting on his deck and solving the “world's problems.”
