Barta, Betty Ruth
CEDAR RAPIDS - Betty Ruth Barta, 86, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Oct. 14, 2010, at the Mechanicsville Nursing and Rehab Center after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 18, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Chaplain Harold Schutte of Iowa Hospice will officiate. Friends may call after 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Chapel of Memories. Burial will take place at St. John Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Betty is survived by her son, Terry Barta; her daughters, Danette Potter and Cindy Adams; six grandchildren, Bob (Annette) Barta, Jeff (Nicky) Barta, Darcy (Dave) Sunlin, Dana Potter, Ashley Adams and Lindsay (John) Rowland; and eight great-grandchildren, Olivia, Alaina and Mark Sunlin, Tony Mahoney, Samantha and Jessica Barta, Kelsey Potter and Elizabeth Rowland.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Barta; brothers, Warren, Larry, Nelson and Gerald Goodman; and sisters, Euella Gorsh and Charlene Simmons.
Betty was born Aug. 5, 1924, the daughter of Fred and Mae (Fitzgerald) Goodman. She grew up in Marengo.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Iowa Hospice.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Mechanicsville Care Center and the staff of Iowa Hospice.
