Barry Kimm
BARRY KIMM Norway Former Eastern Iowa resident Barry Kimm, 49, passed away April 8, 2014, at his home in Minne-tonka, Minn. Barry was born Jan. 7, 1965, in Ames, Iowa, to Derald and Theresa Kimm. He graduated from Norway High School in 1983 and from the University of Iowa, with a B.A. in film, in 1987. Barry's gentle heart and creative spirit touched the lives of many through his work as a filmmaker, artist and songwriter. He was a writer, director and editor of documentaries, including "3D Sun" (an IMAX film created in collaboration with NASA and the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum) and "The Measurements of Oxford" (about a film crew that helps a small town measure itself). He also directed commercials for clients, including Virgin Wireless and the University of Minnesota. Barry was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Susan Anderson-Kimm, a visual artist, who passed on March 29, 2014. Their shared lives and joint passions created a wonderful masterpiece that will touch the lives of many people for years to come. Barry is survived by his mother, Theresa; father, Derald; stepmother, Jan; brother, Todd; sister, Amy; brother-in-law, John; and sister-in-law, Heather. A second brother, Brent, passed on Oct. 9, 2013. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Ervin and Marcella Kimm and Arthur and Hilda Schulte. A joint life celebration for Barry and Susan is set for 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at St. Luke Presbyterian Church, Minnetonka, Minn. Please direct all memorials to the family.
