Barren, Stephen Charles
Stephen Charles Barren, 65, of Van Horne, passed away Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, following a sudden illness at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Iowa Veterans Home Cemetery in Marshalltown. Pursel Davis Funeral and Cremation Care in Marshalltown, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Stephen was born May 13, 1946, in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Leland and Margaret (Holub) Barron. He attended Creighton University for two years and then served his country in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968. He was a resident of the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown since Oct. 20, 2003.
Stephen will be missed by four siblings, Greg Barron of Marengo, Marcia (Charlie) Wauters of Keystone, Mike (Mary) Barron of Marion and Therese (Jay) Fisher of Blairstown; 10 nieces and nephews, Dena (Scott) Duffy, Danielle Barron, Denise (Kevin) Rawson, Lee Barron, Chad (Jodi) Wauters, Nicole Rhea, Amanda Barron, Christina Barron, Reilly Fisher and Rebecca Fisher; and an aunt, Charlene (Kenneth) Gove of Oak Island, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leland in 1973; and mother, Margaret in 2007.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at the Iowa Veterans Home for the wonderful care and concern shown to Stephen during his stay with them.
