Barnes, Helen L.
Helen L. Barnes, 88, a resident of Silvercrest Anamosa Retirement Community, formerly of Marion, passed Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013. Per Helen's wishes, there will be no visitation. Graveside Service: 2:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion.
Survivors include her daughter, Shirley (Dick) Ward of Casa Grande, Ariz.; daughter-in-law, Lois Barnes of Anamosa; five grandchildren, Jeff, Stephanie, Jennifer, Judson and Julie; and eight great-grandchildren, Zach, Jake, Hunter, Jocelyn, Natalie, Ember, Ayva and Nathan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Craig Barnes; and several brothers and sisters.
Helen was born Jan. 29, 1925, in Burlington, the daughter of Amos and Carla (Barkhouse) Gibbs. She married Raymond “Barney” Barnes on Dec. 26, 1944, in San Francisco, Calif. Helen worked for Collins Radio for over 25 years.
