Barker, Vicki J.
Vicki J. Barker-Anderson, 52, of Marion, died Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009, at Willow Gardens Care Center following a long illness. Funeral services will held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids, the Rev. Ed Powers of Asbury United Methodist Church will officiate. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Entombment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Surviving are her husband, Doug of Cedar Rapids; aunt and guardian, Marlene (Richard) Barker of Marion; aunts, Gladys Peters of Des Moines, and Lorna Koenck of Colorado; uncle, Warren Jones of Council Bluffs; her dog, Tiny; as well as several extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Vicki was born August 2, 1957, in Anamosa, Iowa, the daughter of Clifford and Lila (Jones) Barker. She graduated from Cedar Rapids Kennedy High School. She participated in the Special Olympics for many years. She was employed through Options of Linn County at AEGON in the mail room for several years. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. She was a loving wife, niece, cousin and friend who will be greatly missed by all.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Make a Wish Foundation or to Options of Linn County.
