Barbra Louise Formanek, 73, of Rotonda West, Florida, beloved wife and mother, went to heaven on Thursday, January 30, 2025. Funeral services will be held at a later date. A small Celebration of Life was held with immediate family and friends in Rotonda West Florida.
Barbra was born on May 27, 1951 to Parents Claude and Marybelle Reed, she was the 4th child of 5 children. She was a confident, vibrant, selfless, compassionate and inspirational woman to many. She deeply understood her Catholic Faith. Barb attended Ponca High School in Nebraska, then transferred to Belle Plaine, Iowa. She was employed by Square D for 28 years, then retired. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. But her favorite occupation was being a loving wife/mother and grandmother, and per her children "she was the best". She loved reading, spending time with her family and she loved living in Florida.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Gene Formanek, daughter, Lee Anna (Mark) Kriegel of Tama, Iowa, son Gene (Jericha) Formanek of Punta Gorda, Florida; siblings Claudette (Larry) Albenesius of Jackson, Nebraska, Carolyn (Ed) Frazee of Sioux City, Iowa, Donna Reed of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota, sisters-in-law Veronica Houser of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Dollie Barkdoll of Vinton, Iowa, Geri Lattieri of Dandridge, Tennessee; grandchildren, Jesse Mapes of Belle Plaine, Iowa, Miah Mapes of Tama, Iowa, Dayton Sumner-Formanek of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by brother Joseph Reed, parents Claude and Marybelle Reed, grandparents Harry and Rose Reed and
Louis and Belle Voss.
