Barbaro, Caleb Anthony
Caleb Anthony Barbaro, infant son of Nick Barbaro and Stacey Fosdick, lost his short battle to Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012, at 2:38 p.m. at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
After almost 17 weeks in the PICU, two hearts surgeries, two abdominal surgeries, and numerous blood transfusions, Caleb's fight came to an end. Caleb never got to come home, but as a final wish for him, he was able to experience the outdoors. He passed away with the sun on his face in the arms of his mother and father, surrounded by family who loved him.
In Caleb's four short months, he touched many lives.
His parents wish to extend their deepest appreciation for the dedication, perseverance, love, and personal commitment that was shown to Caleb by every member of the PICU staff.
An open visitation will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids on Thursday, Sept. 27, from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 28, at the funeral home, with visitation beginning at 9 a.m.
Online memorial can be found at under obituaries.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to Stacey Fosdick, P.O. Box 718, Bridgeton, MO 63044. Funds will be distributed in Caleb's memory among the many excellent charities and organizations that serve children with congenital heart defects.
