Barbara W. Black, 91, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Friday, Feb. 25, 2022, at Heritage Specialty Care in Cedar Rapids. Funeral service: 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids, with visitation to begin one hour prior. Pastor Matt German will officiate. A livestream of the funeral service may be accessed on the funeral home website tribute page for Barbara, under "photos and videos," starting at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 1. Burial will be held at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids following the service. A reception will take place following burial at The Legacy Center at Murdoch-Linwood.
Barbara was born on March 16, 1930, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of Barry and Edith (Beall) Feldmann. She was united in marriage to Maurice R. Black on May 14, 1950, in Ottumwa. Barbara worked as a cook for Evergreen Estates II, in laundry services at a hotel in Fairfield, cleaned houses, and worked at Hawkeye Seed. Barbara was a member of Salem United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her children, Michael (Linda) Black and Richard (Deb) Black, all of Cedar Rapids; grandsons, Jesse Black (Jenna Gardner) of Cedar Rapids, Bruce Black of Rock Island, Ill., Eric Black (Jenni Smith) of Cedar Rapids and Andy (Gina Strand) Black of Lenoir City, Tenn.; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and extended family members; and special friend, Rosie Moyer of Cedar Rapids.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Maurice, in 1973; sisters, Dorothy Feldmann and Francis Pyle; brothers, George, Lawrence and Donald Feldmann; and her little companion, Shih-tzu, Angel.
