BARBARA JEAN SCHUTTERLE
Marengo
Barbara Jean Schutterle, 78, of Marengo, passed away June 29, 2017, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Memorial service: 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 7, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, with the Rev. Shawn Barr officiating. Burial will be in Marengo Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 6, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be contributed to the Iowa County Food Bank or Marengo American Legion.
Barbara is survived by four children, Kim (Mark) Neuhaus of Cedar Rapids, Kelly Dye of Cedar Rapids, Jonette (Steve) Finley of Cedar Rapids and Lisa (Jason) Lillie of Marengo; 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Francis Schutterle, in December 2015.
Barbara Jean Stockwell was born Nov. 3, 1938, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Robert and Verla Griggs Stockwell. She attended Marengo schools through the ninth grade and later received her GED from Kirkwood Community College in 1981. On Aug. 23, 1968, in Kahoka, Mo., Barbara was united in marriage to Francis Schutterle. The couple made their home in Marengo. They were members of St. John's Lutheran Church, Marengo, and Barbara was a member of St. John's Ladies Aid.
Barbara enjoyed making crafts, painting, drawing and crocheting.
