Barbara J. Saunders, 85, of Wyoming, passed away Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015, at her home in Central City. Her graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at Cady Cemetery. The family has honored her wishes of cremation. Lahey Funeral & Cremation Service of Wyoming is assisting the family with their services.
Barbara Jane was born on March 31, 1930, in Anamosa, Iowa, to Robert and Elizabeth (Sutton) Tasker. She graduated from Wyoming High School in 1947. On July 29, 1950, she was united in marriage to Paul W. Saunders in Anamosa. Barbara was a telephone operator, worked at the Anamosa Shirt Factory, a secretary at the school for 10 years, worked at Wyoming Town Super Market for 10 years and then worked at Walmart until retirement. She was a board member of the Wyoming Historical Museum. She enjoyed crafts, sewing, baking and listening to music. She made the best homemade candy and was great at decorating cakes. Barbara had a passion for taking pictures and cooking for Sunday dinners. She lived for her grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memories are her four children, Robin (Walter) Buckallew of Cedar Rapids, Rebecca (Michael) Morris of Butte, Mont., Rochelle (Noble) Sweeting of Cedar Rapids and Roland "Shawn" (Tracy) Saunders of Central City; four grandchildren, Jamie (Laura) Smith, Bryce Buckallew and Regan and McKennan Saunders; and one great-grandson, Brendan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother, James Tasker.
