Barbara Jean (Miller) Rammelsberg, 84, of Palo, Iowa, went to be with her heavenly father on Jan. 2, 2015, following a long battle with cancer. Service: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Atkins, Iowa, with the Reverend Steven Rempfer officiating, followed by a luncheon. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, at the church. Burial: St. Stephen's Lutheran Cemetery, Atkins, Iowa.
Barb was born in Marion, Iowa, on May 19, 1930, to Henry and Melvina (Hewitt) Miller. She graduated from Marion High School in 1948 then worked for the phone company. Barb married Vernon Rammelsberg on Oct. 15, 1950, and became a farmer's wife, helping with chores. She was a member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Ladies Aid.
Barbara is survived by two children, Gerald (Carol) Rammelsberg of Palo and Carolyn (Jay) Quimby of Marion; her daughter-in-law, Cathy Rammelsberg of Marion; ten grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; her sister, Nancy (Paul) Jerabek of Marion; and her sister-in-law, Willie Miller of Branson, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vernon, in 2005; a son, David, in 2009; and two siblings, James Miller and Lois Klingler.
Barb enjoyed bowling, playing bingo, flower gardening and wintering in Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Barb's memory be directed to Unity Point Hospice or St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, Atkins, Iowa.
The family would like to thank the Unity Point Hospice and the staff at Northbrook Manor for the care and the kindness that was given Barbara/Mom at this difficult time.
