Barbara C. Nelson, 78, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, March 7, 2014, at her home. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Wednesday. Cedar Memorial Certified Celebrant Julie Freese will officiate. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Barbara is survived by three sons, Dave (Patricia) Nelson of Skokie, Ill., Jeff (Laura) Nelson of Des Moines and John (Myra) Nelson of Lakeville, Minn.; a brother, Theron (Carol) Bolton of Omaha, Neb.; grandchildren, Joel Nelson of Skokie, Ill., Matt and Jenny Nelson of Des Moines and Mia and Emma Nelson of Lakeville, Minn.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; two sisters, Ione Bolton and Linda Sue Reid; and a brother, Hugh Bolton.
Barbara was born April 15, 1935, in Hastings, Iowa, the daughter of Tuck and Lota Johnson Bolton. She married William R. Nelson on June 21, 1958, in Strahan. Bill passed away Jan. 30, 2014.
Barbara was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking as well as baking. She was a very talented lady who expressed herself in the many crafts she constructed, including Christmas items and crocheting to just name a few.
Barbara was a wonderful wife, mother, sister and grandmother whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her. She will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the American Lung Association.
