Barbara Jane Zeman, 83, of Elberon, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2021, at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 25, at the Christian Fellowship Church of Vining. Interment
will follow at the Stayskal Cemetery in
rural Vining. Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24, at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Barbara was born on Dec. 2, 1937, in rural Chelsea, Iowa, the daughter of Emil and Gertrude (Wilkinson) Seidel.
She graduated from Toledo High School.
On Aug. 3, 1957, she was united in marriage to Robert "Dennis" Zeman at the United Brethren Church in Toledo. Barb helped her husband on the farm doing all of the important jobs that farm wives do. She also enjoyed helping her daughter, Kristi at the Farmers Markets. Barb was a member of the Christian Fellowship Church of Vining and the CSA Hall. She loved gardening, growing flowers, baking and canning. Barb and Dennis loved dancing and followed the Dave Dighton Band. Her greatest joy was time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include one son, Tod (Stacey) Zeman of Toledo; one daughter, Kristi (Alan) Sienknecht of Clutier; eight grandchildren, Levi (Tiffany) Zeman, Madison Zeman, Joe (Jessica) Shope, Luke (Kailey) Shope, Haley (Garrett) Princehouse, Devin (Kyle) Mattingly, Bailey (Cody) Hamilton and Colin Sienknecht; seven great-grandchildren, Mason, Lane, and Grant Mattingly, Owen and Carson Hamilton, Wesley Zeman and Moxley Shope; three sisters, Betty Bumgarner of Central City, Bonnie (Leroy) Deutsch of Vinton and Bev (Fred) Vore of Vining; brother-in-law, Roger Zeman of Elberon; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Dennis, in 2018; brother-in-law, Keith Bumgarner; and sister-in-law, Shirley Sokol.
A memorial fund will be established.
