BARBARA JO HIDINGER
Cedar Rapids
Barbara Jo Hidinger, 64, of Cedar Rapids, passed away suddenly Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2021, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Visitation and memorial service will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, at Papich-Kuba Funeral Home East, 1228 Second St. SE.
Barbara was born Jan. 20, 1957, the daughter of George and Marge Hidinger of Cedar Rapids. She graduated from Jefferson High School, Class of 1975. Barb graduated from Kirkwood Community College and received a degree in computer programming. Shortly after graduation, she was united in marriage to Eugene Osmundson at Calvary Baptist Church in Cedar Rapids. To this union three children were born, Justin, Andrea and Eric.
Barb was a stay-at-home Mom for many years and loved spending her days with her family. She spent her free time as the PTA president at Harrison Elementary School which her children (and later her grandchildren) attended. Later in life she returned to the working world, where she spent many years working and volunteering. Barb made some of her best friends during this time.
Throughout her life, Barb was very involved in her children's and grandchildren's activities. She enjoyed gardening, going on bike rides, doing small DIY projects and much more. She absolutely loved her dogs, kids and helping people. It was of no matter how large or how small the need, Barb was there trying to help in any way possible.
Many of Barb's hobbies, traditions and memories were passed down to her children and grandchildren.
Throughout her life, her greatest desire was to be accepted for who she was. Barb was the strongest, most caring woman that anyone could have ever known.
Barb is survived by her children, Justin (Tonya) Osmundson, Andrea (Korrey) Osmundson and Eric Osmundson, all of Cedar Rapids; her grandchildren include, Kiley and Sydney Mayland and Hudson Osmundson (also of Cedar Rapids); brother, Jim (Jill) Hidinger of Shellsburg; and nieces and nephews.
Throughout the years, Barb acquired many friends and "adopted" family members, her children's friends were a part of the family and Barb treated them as such.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
