Barbara L. Fuchs, 86, of Vinton, died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018, at the Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha, Iowa.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 26, 2018, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Vinton with Father Ardel Barta as Celebrant. Visitation will be held from
2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, at Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home in Vinton and one hour prior to Mass on Monday at the church. A private family committal service will be held in Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton.
Barbara was born March 3, 1931, in Vinton, Iowa, the daughter of Helge and Flo Hanson Clang. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Vinton.
Barb was united in marriage with William Fuchs in Vinton on Aug. 20, 1950. They lived in many states around the country until their return to Vinton in 1999. They enjoyed ballroom dancing, outdoor activities such as boating, fishing and camping, and traveling. Barb had many hobbies, including gardening, bird watching and interior decorating.
Barb was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary in several states where they resided. She was also a hospice volunteer in the state of Michigan and was awarded for her efforts with a Point of Light presentation by presidential declaration under the George Bush administration. Barb was a communicant of St. Mary Catholic Church in Vinton.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 67 years, Bill, of Vinton; one son, Bill (Nancy) of Michigan; granddaughter, Jessie; great-granddaughter, Emma; sister, Dorothy (Tony) Scozzafava of Utah; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Arlene Clang and Faye Goodell; her brother, Robert Clang; and grandson, Josh Fuchs.
