BARBARA J. FORKNER

Barbara J. Forkner, 82, of Springville, passed away March 27, 2018, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids, surrounded by her loving family. The family will greet friends from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 2, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will take place at 2 p.m. at St. John's Cemetery, Independence. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home, Marion.
Barbara was born Jan. 12, 1936, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of F.D. and Hazel (Anderson) Brown. She graduated from Winthrop High School in 1954. Barbara retired from Rockwell Collins after many years of service. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. Barbara enjoyed watching old Westerns, researching family genealogy and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her sons, David, Dean, Doug, Dan (Gwen) and Tim (Jean) Stanek; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; seven brothers, Bernard (Doris), Tom, Mike (Bonnie), Steve, John (Shelly), Paul (Cindy) and Dennis (Janet) Brown; two sisters, Bernadine (Tom) Wilkinson and Pat Brown; and many nieces and nephews.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert and his wife, Mary Jo; sister, Mary Rigdon; and sister-in-law, Cheri Brown.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
