Barbara E. Fitzgerald, 93, of Marion, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2017. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Howard Chapman. The family will greet friends one hour before the service at the funeral home. Burial: 1 p.m. Tuesday at Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.
Barbara is survived by her cousins, Robert (Myrtle) Wright and Norman (Janice) Fitzgerald.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother at birth, Robert Lee Fitzgerald; and cousin, Jerry Wright.
Barbara was born May 7, 1924, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Lee Roy and Mildred (Hough) Fitzgerald. She graduated from Marion High School in 1942 and Coe College. Barbara also attended the Minneapolis School of Art for one year. She was employed at Armstrong's Department Store in the advertising department for 29 years.
Barbara was a member of Alpha XI Delta sorority and Alumni Group at Coe College. She also was a member of PEO Chapter CS, First Presbyterian Church and the church circle there.
