Barbara (Bubba) Ann Recker, 85, of Marion, passed away peacefully with her family at her side Sunday, July 8, 2018, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
Services will be held Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at St Joseph's Catholic Church in Marion. Visitation will begin at
9 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at St Joseph's Cemetery in Prairieburg, Iowa.
Survivors include daughters, Deb (Randy) Byers of Anamosa, Iowa, and Denise (Gerry) Weimer of Marshalltown, Iowa; son, Alan (Julie) Recker of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Adam (Holly) Byers, Cassie (Chris) Caldwell, Heather Blais, Shawna Weimer, Adam (Thuy) Conway, Brianna (Andrew) Reynolds and Cassie (Mo) Hodges; and eight great-grandchildren.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; parents, Leo and Levona Machart; and sister, Norma Jean.
Barbara was born Feb. 21, 1933, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to parents Leo and Levona Machart. She married Joseph Recker on April 26, 1955, in Prairieburg, Iowa. She worked at Rockwell Collins, retiring there. Barb loved cars, animals and good food. Activities she enjoyed included dancing to polka music, playing cards, golfing with her girlfriends and driving. She was known for her witty sense of humor and being the life of the party. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
