Barbara Ruth (Lamphier) Beck, 67, of Waukesha, Wis., formerly of Springville, died peacefully Friday, May 29, 2015, after a sudden illness. Per her wishes, there will be no funeral, and her body will be cremated.
Barb's family will host two open houses in celebration of her life. In Wisconsin, they will welcome friends on Wednesday, June 3, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Park Avenue Pizza in Pewaukee. In Iowa, they will welcome friends on Friday, June 5, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Legion Hall in Springville.
Barb was born Aug. 23, 1947, in Vinton, Iowa, the daughter of Leonard and Ruth (Kray Prescott) Lamphier. She graduated from Regis High School in Cedar Rapids in 1965. On Feb. 28, 1966, she married Ronald Beck in Mechanicsville. She worked at Criticare Inc. for over 26 years, retiring in 2012.
She is survived by her husband, Ron; daughter, Sheila (Mike) of Vinton; son, Brian (Christine) of Waukesha, Wis.; brother, Ron Prescott (Monica, deceased) of Marion; sister, Mary Rozinek (Bob) of Whittier; brother, Kevin Lamphier (Susan) of Delhi; and the joys of her life – her grandsons, Kray Medvedjevs, Colin Beck and Kyle Medvedjevs, and granddaughter, Caitlyn Beck.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jennifer; her parents; and several aunts and uncles.
Barb will be remembered for her love of family and friends, her cooking, and most of all for her wonderful sense of humor.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Heart Association.
