Barbara Ann Mann Berdahl, beloved mother to Eric Berdahl and Randi Luna; mother-in-law to Christopher Luna and Danelle Berdahl; best grandma ever to Emily and Ben Luna, Zach, Nathan, and Audrey Townsend, passed peacefully in her home on February 25, 2025 following a brave and inspiring battle with cancer.
Barb worked for many years in various roles, as a teacher, a homemaker, and as an executive assistant for Marriott (later Sodexho). Beyond these, it was her lifelong role as a musician for which most people will remember and love her. Music truly was her life blood. It occupied her with activity, purpose and spirit. The connections she made through her love of music were those that lifted her from her youth through her final days with us.
Her life brought her many places. She toured Europe with the University of Iowa Band, traveled around the United States as a military wife, and raised a family that brought her to all corners of the world, either in person or through connections and stories with all she loved.
She had an indominable spirit that touched all around her, whether in a grocery line, at church, or with close friends. She approached her life with a passion and interest that left everyone who encountered her, refreshed and at ease. Those fortunate to know her were forever changed thru their relationship. When you hear the French horn, think of Barb. Chances are, she is with you.
Barbara was preceded in death by her brothers Tom, John, and David Mann, and sisters Rosemary Barlow Betty Baxter.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, March 15 at 11:00 am at Trinity Episcopal Church in Wheaton, Illinois. All who knew Barb are welcome to attend and celebrate her life with us.
