SCHROEDER KRAMER

Barbara Ann Ihrke Schroeder Kramer of Lowden, Iowa, died peacefully on Nov. 5, 2021, at the age of 82, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence. A memorial service will be held
at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lost Nation, where masks will be required. Burial will follow
in the Lost Nation Cemetery.
Barbara was born in Davenport to Herbert Ihrke and Lucille Homola on Jan. 4, 1939. After her father's death, her mother remarried, and she was adopted by Marvin Schroeder. She married Edward Kramer on Jan. 23, 1960, at the fire station in Cary, Ill., and they welcomed seven daughters.
Barb and her husband ran the Alibi Cafe in Lowden for several years during the 1970s. She was proud of being able to provide a safe place for young people to go and, as listening was one of her strengths, was grateful that she could support so many teens.
Barb enjoyed playing bingo, hosting a weekly game night, supporting charities, helping others and spending time with her family. She was also a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary in Toronto.
She is survived by daughters, Melanie (Tom) Hoffner, Dawn (Allen) Cassity, Wendy (Ron) Rowley, Candace (Brian) Kiekhaefer, Theresa Malone, Lana (Dale) Axline and Barbara (Bret) Cottrell; grandchildren, Alex Hoffner, Eric and Brandon Cassity, Shelby (Nick) Audo, Stephanie (Jake) Snyder, Jessica (Max) Haranda, Skylar and Spencer Kiekhaefer, Claire Malone, Danielle (Dan) Otto, Tiffany (Landon) Cahill and Courtney (Caleb) Wachendorf; great-grandchildren, Braxton and Dylan Cahill, April Audo; and a brother, David (Becca) Schroeder.
Barb was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, Doug Schroeder; sister, Linda Ihrke Schroeder Stagg; grandchildren, Hollis Malone and Emily Hoffner; and other family.
