Barbara Jean Allmandinger, 88, of Marion, passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct. 19, 2018, at Crestview Acres in Marion. Per Barbara's wishes, cremation has taken place, and no services will be held. A private family committal service will be held at a later date.
Barbara was born Oct. 28, 1929, in Huntington, Ind., the daughter of Paul and Garnet (Stonebreaker) Richardson. She graduated from South Central High school in Fort Wayne, Ind. Barbara was a member of St. Mark's Faith and Life Lutheran Church in Marion and the PEO chapter. She enjoyed volunteering and was very creative in arts and crafts. Barbara enjoyed knitting and sewing, and even created a knitting camp at the University of Wisconsin Extension in Marshfield, Wis. Most of all, she loved her grandchildren, whom she called her "gems."
She is survived and lovingly remembered by her children, Byron (Michelle) Allmandinger and Amy Allmandinger, both of Marion; three grandchildren, Megan, Emily and Jacob; and two sisters, Sally (Jim) Huhn of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Paula (Keith) Bynum of Lexington, Ky.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Sandra Stoner.
