Barbara Jean Akers, 87, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Feb. 1, 2017. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at Cedar Valley Bible Church, with visitation one hour before the service. Burial: Oak Hill Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Charles; sons, Scott (Eileen "Dolly") Akers
of Titusville, Fla., and Philip (Brenda) Akers of Holt, Mo.; daughter, Kathryn (Terry) Hartgrave of Hiawatha, Iowa; grandchildren, Philip (Cassie) Hartgrave, Michael (Holly) Hartgrave, Damon (Svetlana) Akers, Kaimee Akers and Kinsey Marcella; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Velma Wetzel; and son, Dennis Akers.
Barbara was born March 2, 1929, in Blairstown, Iowa. On Oct. 1, 1949, she married Charles W. Akers. Barbara worked at Mercy Hospital and Penick & Ford.
