Bamsey, Garland L.
Garland L. Bamsey, 60, of Willow Gardens in Marion, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died at Willow Gardens on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, from complications of M.S. Per Garland's request there will be no service. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Survivors include a daughter, Jennifer (John) Vick of Chandler, Ariz.; two sons, Joshua of Washington state and Thomas “T.J.” of Chandler, Ariz.; three sisters, Paula (Dave) Wilson and Linda (Tari) Dailey, both of Cedar Rapids, and Sandra Emmert of Marion; two brothers, Larry of Plano, Texas and Frank of Virginia; and two grandchildren, Sadera and Anthony.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Patricia; and a brother, Keith.
Garland was born Jan. 21, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Arthur and Florence Gremmels Bamsey. He graduated from Alburnett High School, where he participated in both football and wrestling. He married Sherry Struchen in Early, Iowa. They were later divorced. Garland was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and did volunteer work for the local M.S. Chapter. He worked for several years at Wilson and Co. and later at Options of Linn County.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the M.S. Society.
