Ballou, Dean Walter
Dean Walter Ballou, 63, died from cancer Friday, July 23, 2013, at his home in Eastlake, Colo.
He was born June 16, 1950, in Independence, Iowa, the son of Walter and Maxine Miller Ballou. He was married to Nancy Tinkler of Houston, Texas, from 1972-1991. After leaving Independence, Dean lived in Colorado, working in real estate and home remodeling.
He is survived by his mother, Maxine Ballou of Independence; three daughters, Michelle Mitchener of Wheat Ridge, Colo., Amanda Ballou of Federal Heights, Colo., and Laura Huber of Denver, Colo. He is also survived by five grandchildren; and one sister, Carole Franz of Independence.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Luther Ballou.
Dean was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his dog, Cartridge. He collected antique walnut furniture and spent many happy hours working in his shop. His grandchildren brought him great joy and his handcrafted walnut pieces will be treasured heirlooms.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
