Baker, Milda 'Millie' Grace
Milda “Millie” Grace Baker, 84, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, Feb. 15, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center following a short illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Unity Center of Cedar Rapids by the Rev. Brenda S. Ehret. Burial: Cedar Memorial Cemetery. Friends may visit today from 4 to 7 p.m. at Teahen Funeral Home.
Millie is survived by two daughters, Candace Neal of Tucson, Ariz., and Beth Parker of Marion; one son, Jack (Paula) Baker of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Tim (Mary Beth) Neal of Cedar Rapids, Brooke (Rob) Gager of Marion, Molly (Todd) Clubb of Center Point, and Page (Chad) Harford of Marion; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Renee (Bob) Stramel of Cedar Rapids; two special friends, Dan and Barb Reed of Cedar Rapids; and several nieces and nephews.
Her husband, Jack L. Baker Sr.; two sisters, Lois Wharton and Ruth Hoglund; preceded Millie in death.
Millie was born Oct. 5, 1925, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Carlisle “Jim” and Gretta Clemans Culver. She married Jack L. Baker on June 6, 1942, in Kahoka, Mo. She worked at ME-TOO Grocery Store in the meat department and retired in 1984. Millie and Jack moved to Table Rock, Mo., in 1984. They returned to Cedar Rapids in 1996.
Millie loved spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed fishing, cooking, baking and laughing. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
