Baker, Mary
Mary Baker, 73, of Marion, formerly of Ely, died Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, at her home. A Memorial Gathering will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Private family graveside services will be held at a later date in Rogers Grove Cemetery near Ely.
Mary was born Dec. 12, 1938, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Lance and Edna (Henecke) Stratton. She married Lonnie Baker on June 21, 1969, in Rock Island, Ill. Mary worked at Wilson (Farmstead) Foods for 30 years until its closing. Then she worked at North Liberty Plastic until her retirement in 2002. She loved working around the farm and in her garden.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Pamela Miller of Colorado Springs, Colo.; sons, Dean (Julie) Miller of Marion and Randy (Denise) Miller of Solon; five grandchildren, Holli of Colorado Springs, Colo., Nick and Mandy, both of North Liberty, and Jesse and Nathan, both of Solon; five great-grandchildren; her siblings, Robert (RaiAnn) Stratton, Roberta (John) Walderbach, Janet (Ray) Hassen and Jim Stratton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Lonnie Baker.
