Baker, Joan
Joan Baker, 83, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at The Meth-Wick Community following an extended illness. Funeral Service will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, at River of Life Worship Center. Friends may call one hour before the service on Friday at the church. Interment will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Joan Baker was born Oct. 3, 1930, in Festina, Iowa, the daughter of Clem and Bertha (Miller) Gardner. She was united in marriage to Larry Baker on April 18, 1973, in Illinois.
Joan had been very talented when it came to interior design. She loved to decorate her home. The three things that were most important to Joan were her family, her faith and living life to its fullest.
She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her loving husband, Larry Baker of Cedar Rapids; two children, Jean (Donald) Remour of Swisher and Brian (Rita) Potratz of Dripping Springs, Texas; three grandchildren, Mike Remour, Luke Potratz and Julia Hubbard; and siblings, Kathleen George, Roger (Darlene) Gardner, Eugene (Betty) Gardner and Floyd (Laurel) Gardner.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Luella Flaherty; a brother, Robert Gardner; and grandson, Jeff Remour.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
