Baird, Roy W.
Roy W. Baird, 83, of Clarence, Iowa, died Thursday, June 27, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center Cedar Rapids.
Services: 1 p.m. Monday, July 1, 2013, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence with the Rev. David Mears officiating. Burial: St. John's Cemetery, Clarence. Visitation: Sunday, June 30, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Chapman's in Clarence.
Roy is survived by his wife, Marvella; son, Al (Teri) of Tipton; daughter, Kathy (Dave) Turnball of Indianola, Iowa; grandchildren, Angela (Sean) Driscoll, Tyler Baird, Sarah (Will) Downard, and Megan (Kyle) Baker; great-grandchildren, Jaclynne Driscoll, Kaylee Driscoll, and Caden, Gracee, Cash, and Brody Downard; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, and six sisters.
Roy was born June 8, 1930, in Mechancisville, Iowa, to James Edward and Ada Grace (Canaday) Baird. He married Marvella Wulff on Sept. 29, 1953, at St. John's in Clarence.
Roy hauled milk for the Clarence Creamery and was a Clarence town man for many years. He enjoyed going to Ditto's and meeting friends and spending time with his extended family. He and his wife mowed lawns and moved snow for many people in town. Roy was also an avid sports fan.
