Baermann, Donna L.
Donna L. Baermann, 71, of Cedar Rapids, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010. after a long illness. As she requested, no services are scheduled. A private burial is planned at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.Arrangements entrusted to Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include daughters, Beth (Richard) Rauch of Cedar Rapids, and Cindy Kydd of Spokane, Wash.; son, Bryan (Michelle) Brophy-Baermann of Providence, R.I.; grandchildren, Bobby and Tommy Rauch, Belamy and Miya Brophy-Baermann and Bailey and Austin Kydd; twin sister Dorothy Sprau Gay of Arizona; brother, Steve Roth; and sister, Becki Drahota, both of Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin in 1997, and by her parents.
Donna was born April 28, 1939, in Carroll, Iowa, the daughter of Omer and Mae Roth. She married Edwin R. Baermann Jr. on July 8, 1961, in Storm Lake, Iowa. Donna graduated from Storm Lake High School, attended Iowa State University for four years and graduated from Mount Mercy College of Cedar Rapids.
Donna was a home economist for Iowa-Illinois Gas Co. and a supervisor for AEGON Insurance Co., retiring in 1994.She was also president of Roth Apartments Inc.and Baermann Apartments Inc. Donna's professional accomplishments included Marquis Who's Who in America, Damsel of the Most August and Ancient Order of St. John – Knights of Malta awarded in 1992, and Strathmore's Who's Who in America title of Deputy Governor, as well as other professional honorary listings.
Donna volunteered at Mercy Medical Center and served on the Housing Board of Appeals for the City of Cedar Rapids.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the donor's personal choice.
