Austell, David B.
David B. Austell, 81, of Marion, died Monday, May 10, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids, with the Rev. Martha Rogers officiating. Entombment will be in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites by Marion American Legion Post No. 298. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the chapel.
Survivors include his wife, Florence of Cedar Rapids; brother, James (Violet) Austell of Nashville, Tenn.; and sister, Charlotte (Doug) Weddington of Murfeesboro, Tenn.
Also surviving are several loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
David Buford Austell was born Oct. 15, 1928, in Tullahoma, Tenn., the son of David and Alta (Spears) Austell. He served in the Army Air Force. On Dec. 22, 1967, he married Florence Swick in Cedar Rapids. David was an engineer for many years and had worked at Rockwell Collins. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
