Aurelia T. "Rusty" Parr, a resident of The Meth-Wick Community, died there Friday, Oct. 31, 2014, after an extended illness. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at All Saints Catholic Church. The Rev. John R. Flaherty will officiate. Private family inurnment: St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, where there will be a vigil service at 4 p.m., and after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Survivors include her children, Barbara (Bob) Hurych of Cedar Rapids, Richard (Patty) of Cedar Rapids, James (Deb) of Iowa City and Robert (Helen) of Florida; and a sister, Mickey Schloss of Strawberry Point. She also is survived by 13 grandchildren, Lisa, Kevin, Adam, Mary, Michele, Rachel, Anna, Andrew, Jared, Shaina, Jacob, Katie and Matt; and four great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; a daughter, Mary Beth; four brothers, Stan, Gerry, George Jr. and Walter; and one sister, Pearl.
Rusty was born Oct. 24, 1923, in Carroll County, Iowa, the daughter of George and Matilda Olbertz Eischeid. She married Donald G. Parr on June 13, 1949, in Carroll. Don passed away in 2002.
Rusty worked at Mercy Medical Center and retired from there after more than 16 years of service. She was a member of the Kiwanis Golden K and a faithful member of All Saints Catholic Church, where she belonged to St. Anne Circle and Young at Heart.
Rusty enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, fishing, long walks, as well as having a special devotion to the Blessed Virgin and the rosary.
Rusty was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friends whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Memorial donations may be given to All Saints Catholic Church or Hospice of Mercy.
