Audrey Joyce Hosford, 86, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2022. Memorial Services:
2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her sons, Glenn (Jennifer) Hosford and Leland Hosford; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Zach) Winker and John Hosford; great granddaughter, Felicity Winker; sisters, Joan (Keith) Bieg and Shirley Strickland; and many nieces and nephews.
Audrey was born on April 11, 1935, the daughter of Leroy and Betty (Thayer) Gilkison in Oakland, Calif. Audrey was always artistic and trained as a draftsman before she married Charles "Chuck" Hosford in 1962. She loved kids, and the highlight of her career was when she taught Kindergarten children. She always worked in the schools her children attended. When her children left the nest, she became more active in politics; notably working several years for the campaign of Congressman Tom Tauke. Audrey also enjoyed leading the crafts program at East Iowa Bible Camp.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chuck; and daughter, Wendy Singleton.
