Audrey Johnson, 81, of Clermont, died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids.
Audrey Lavon was born April 9, 1937, to Giles and Nettie Hicks in Arlington, Iowa. She graduated from Arlington High School in 1956. She was united in marriage to Howard Lewis Johnson on Sept. 2, 1967. One child was born to this union, Valerie Lynn.
Early on she was active with the West Clermont Lutheran Church Women's Circle and a local women's club. Audrey resided in Clermont most of her adult life. She moved to Oelwein in 2003 after her first battle with lymphoma. Audrey was an avid reader and enjoyed puzzle books, crafts, classic movies and TV series.
Audrey is survived by her daughter, Valerie Burns; son-in-law, Ron Burns; grandson, Josh Purman; one granddaughter, Kiran Burns; two sisters, Arietta Leonhart and Virginia Roete; brother-in-law, Robert Johnson; sister-in-law, Linda Johnson; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Audrey was preceded in death by her one true love, her husband, Howard Johnson; her parents, Giles and Nettie Hicks; sister, Leola Lerch; sister-in-law, Arlene Ruckdashel; and her brothers-in-law, Allen and De Wayne Johnson.
A Celebration of Life was held Aug. 20 at Schutte-Grau Funeral Chapel in Clermont. Inurnment, Gods Acres, Clermont. Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Clermont is helping the family with arrangements.
