Audrey Jean Yarbrough, 82, of Ely, Iowa, entered eternity on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2021, at the Solon Retirement Village, Solon, Iowa. A visitation will be held from
4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10, at Brosh Chapel and Avacentre, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, located
at 2121 Bowling St., SW. Celebration of Life services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, at Brosh Chapel, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with burial to follow at Rogers Grove Cemetery,
Ely Iowa.
Audrey was born Dec. 30, 1938, in Bertram, Iowa, the daughter of Vernon and Mildred (Burns) Barrett. She attended Bertram School and graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1956. Audrey was united in marriage to Vernie Yarbrough, on Nov. 24, 1959. Audrey traveled with her family through the years across the United States, and in retirement with her husband and friends. She enjoyed spending time with family, reading and crossword puzzles.
Audrey worked for several employers through the years including Killian's, Concrete Materials, City of Ely, Carpet and Furniture Center, Hanrahan Aeronautics and J-Tec where she made many great friends. Audrey was involved in activities for the Ely Volunteer Fire Department for which her husband was chief for 20 years.
Audrey is survived by her husband, Vernie Yarbrough, Ely, Iowa; children, Tom (Mary) Yarbrough, Kathy (Mike) Murray and Julie (Eric) Appleget, all of Ely, Iowa; five grandchildren, Brandon, Kristin, Nick, Grant and Ty; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Anita Lumpa.
