Audrey Mae Bohlken was born Feb. 24, 1918, in Booneville, Ark., to Walter and Cora Blewer Parks. Audrey received her high school diploma in Cedarville, Ark. She completed her registered nurse training at Morning Side Hospital, Tulsa, Okla. She later received physical therapy training at Medical College of Virginia.
Audrey and Carl F. ("Chuck") Bohlken were married in Belding, Mich., on Sept. 17, 1949. They made their home in San Diego until they returned to Monticello in 1950. She was employed at John McDonald Hospital in Monticello, until she entered the Nurse Corps of the Navy in 1943. She served at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; San Diego, Calif.; and other duty stations. After her honorable discharge in 1950, as a lieutenant, she returned to her employment as an RN at John McDonald Hospital until her retirement in 1983. Audrey moved to Indianola in 2010. At the time of her death, she resided at The Village nursing home in Indianola.
