Aubrey D. McShane, 101, of Springville, passed away Saturday, March 24, 2018, at the Anamosa Care Center. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. Funeral service: 10 a.m. Thursday, March 29, at the funeral home. Burial: Springville Cemetery.
Aubrey was born Nov. 15, 1916, in Linn County, Iowa, the son of Porter and Alma (Bolton) McShane. He graduated from Springville High School in 1935. Aubrey married Lorean Spacek in May 1943, in Keithsburg, Ill. He was a lifelong Linn County farmer. Aubrey was very proud of continuing the family tradition of farming. He also was known to be opinionated in his political views.
He is survived by his wife, Lorean of Anamosa; son, Steven McShane of Springville; daughters, Laura (Gary) Hendrickson of Blair, Neb., and Evelyn (Harry) Hart of Milan, Ill.; seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Aubrey was preceded in death by his infant daughter; grandson; and siblings, Cecil, Lorenna, Howard, Marion, Maxine and Orville.
Memorials in Aubrey's memory may be directed to the Springville Alumni Association or to a charity of the donor's choice.
