Aubrecht, Robert J. 'Bob'

Robert J. “Bob” Aubrecht, 82, of Tiffin, died Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009, at Windmill Manor Care Center in Coralville. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Grace United Methodist Church in Tiffin. Burial, with military honors, will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tiffin. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Robert James Aubrecht was born Oct. 3, 1927, in Lone Tree, Iowa, the son of Lloyd C. and Pearl (Reidy) Aubrecht. His family moved to the Tiffin area, where he attended schools, graduating from Tiffin High School in 1945. During the Korean conflict he served in the United States Army. On Jan. 22, 1950, he married E. LaVerne Slade in Tiffin. The couple and their family made their home in Coralville for many years before he and LaVerne moved to Tiffin in 1996. For many years Robert was employed with Kings Concrete Products. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Tiffin, VFW Post 3949, former member of Johnson County 4-H, Johnson County Mounted Patrol, and the North Liberty Saddle Club. He enjoyed the outdoors, raising bees, hunting and fishing, but most dear to him was his family and the many friends over the years he has known.

His family includes his wife of nearly 60 years, LaVerne; daughters, Margaret Rios (Benny) of North Liberty and Marcia Dolezal of Cedar Rapids; sons, Terry Aubrecht of Tiffin, Tom Aubrecht (Michelle) of Tiffin and Tim Aubrecht (Cindy Elmer) of Rockford, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and his sister, Connie Stoddard of Junction City, Kan.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Joy Barnes; son, James Robert Aubrecht; sister, Doris Shaffer; and brother, Vernon Aubrecht.
