E. LaVerne Slade was born May 17, 1932, in Tiffin, Iowa, the daughter of DeWayne and Donna (Oakes) Slade. She graduated from Tiffin High School in 1950. On Jan. 22, 1950, she married Robert J. “Bob” Aubrecht in Tiffin. The couple and their family made their home in Coralville for many years before LaVerne and Bob moved to Tiffin in 1996.
LaVerne was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Tiffin, the North Liberty Saddle Club, was active in Johnson County 4-H, and enjoyed the outdoors with her family, camping and fishing. LaVerne had worked a short time for the University of Iowa and she and Bob owned and operated Wool & Wear for a number of years, but for LaVerne she was most proud being wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother - her family was a lifetime of love for her!
Her family includes daughters, Margaret Rios (Benny) of North Liberty and Marcia Dolezal (Mike Gatto) of Cedar Rapids; sons, Terry Aubrecht of Tiffin, Tom Aubrecht (Michelle) of Iowa City and Tim Aubrecht (Cindy Elmer) of Rockford, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Donna Dietrich (Darren) of Cedar Rapids and Reta Bream of Oxford; and sister-in-law, Vickie Slade of Tiffin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob; son, James; her brother, Vernon Slade; and brother-in-law, Bill Bream.
