Arthur James Ellis, 81, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Friday, June 23, 2017, at Living Center West, Cedar Rapids.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 15, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held before the service from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the chapel.
Arthur was born Jan. 13, 1936, the son of Luther and Leona (Gleason) Ellis, in Clover Splint, Ky. The family then moved to Alabama, where he lived most of his childhood. He worked at Options of Linn County for many years. Jimmy enjoyed music and sports, but especially liked cheering on the Hawkeyes. He also loved reminiscing and sharing stories of his childhood in Alabama and spending time with his brothers, sisters and all the extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jerry Ellis, Hugh Thomas Ellis, Donald Ellis and Bobby Ellis; sisters, Mary Jo Patterson and Phyllis Kraft; and many nieces and nephews.
He was loved and will be deeply missed.
The family would like to thank all the caring staff at Living Center West. The care and love Jimmy received is greatly appreciated.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
